(6) Biwako no Kujira (Biwako whale)

Tonight’s evening drink is here. “Biwako no Kujira” by Kitajima Shuzo.

Of course, there are no whales in Lake Biwa. It means “unbelievably delicious”. That’s a great name, haha.

I drank it well chilled and the first thing I felt was its richness and sweetness. The label reads 20% alcohol by volume. My family said, “Make it into a sorbet and serve it for dessert,” and I agreed with them.

I drank it with a meal, but it did not go well with the food. The sake overwhelmed all the dishes. I guess it is a dessert sake after all.

Next day. This time, I tried “Kujira” on the rocks. And what a great experience!

Because of its high alcohol content, it does not feel diluted at all even with ice. On the contrary, the strength and deliciousness of this sake stood out.

Recently, I have been experimenting with higher-alcoholic draft sake on the rocks, and all of them are great. On the rocks is very nice.
