This year, since the New Year, I have been enjoying delicious Shiga sake, and because of the many sweet sake, my body has been craving for dry sake, haha.
So here is the Shiga sake for this evening that I got.
This is Ohta Shuzo’s Dohkan “Gokukara YamadaNishiki 80”. It is “Gokukara”. I’m so happy.

My first impression is that it smells somewhat spicy, haha.
Then I took a sip, and the spiciness gradually came rushing in・・・. Oh,hot! It’s so spicy! Seriously?
It seems to have almost zero sweetness, and the flavor of the rice makes it somehow drinkable, perhaps spiciness close to my max.
Oh no, I didn’t realize it was so HOT. I mean, I didn’t think I was so sensitive to dryness.

Next, I tried heating sake.
The rising aroma is then even spicier, but warming it up increases the flavor of the rice, making it much mellower and easier to drink than cold sake.
So I tried it for dinner, and it was a wonder (haha) that it went well with all the entrées.
In the end, the food and sake were better, and both were much more enjoyable.
Thank you “Gokukara”!
