(64) Daikoga “Shiboritate Ichiban”

In the blink of an eye, it’s already the end of the year. There are only a few days left in this year’s Shiga Sake Diary.

Tonight’s evening sake is Seko Shuzo’s Daikoga “Shiboritate Ichiban”.

I tried it well chilled, it has a gentle and pleasant aroma typical of Japanese sake.

A sip of the sake reveals a moderate dryness with a mild mouthfeel. The flavor of the rice and the spiciness mix well together to create a pleasant taste.

As I slowly sip it, the acidity gradually becomes stronger. Just the right amount of dryness and richness.

It is high in alcohol, but I think it can be enjoyed with any food.

Since I was in the mood, I tried drinking it heated.

When heated up, the aroma of rice rises up and it is very nice.

Many sakes change their flavor quite a bit, but this one did not change its flavor much and seemed to match the food even better.

This is the kind of sake that makes me want to spend a relaxing New Year’s Day with it while watching TV.
