Three days ago, I visited “Yuuki” in Gion for the first time in a while. This restaurant is directly managed by Okamura Honke, and all the sake is “Kinkame”.
We were served a variety of delicious sake, and to our surprise, we even got a souvenir on the way home!
I heard it’s the 15th anniversary of “Yuuki” and they are handing them out to their customers. Thank you very much.
We wish the restaurant a happy 20th and 25th anniversary.

So, tonight’s evening drink is here. This is Okamura Honke’s Kinkame “Shiboritate Nama Genshu”.
The first impression of the fragrance is a pleasant scent with a hint of sweetness. It creates a sense of anticipation for the sweet “Shiboritate Nama Genshu” (freshly brewed sake).
A sip reveals a mild sweetness, as expected. Then, the flavor of the rice spreads softly. It is 19% alcohol, and it is a very rich, unadulterated sake.
Of course, I can taste the spiciness and acidity, but basically, the flavor and richness of the rice is probably the star of this sake.
When swallowed, its spiciness is present for a moment, but it quickly disappears cleanly, leaving behind the umami of the rice.
Oh no, I love it!
I am becoming more and more of a dry sake drinker these days, but I have always been a sweet sake drinker, so this sake is right in the middle of my strike zone.
But I think I’ll have to try the dry type Kinkame next time? I’ll do my best, haha.
