Best Lunch(36) Keitokuchin Syuka

Today I am going to change things up a bit and write about weekday lunches.

The theme is “Szechuan Mapo Tofu” by “KeitokuchinSyuka”.

“KeitokuchinSyuka” is a Szechuan restaurant with a high level of cuisine. It is a delicious restaurant.

“Szechuan Mapo Tofu” served at weekday lunch

Here is its weekday lunch “Szechuan Mapo Tofu”.

The current price is 900 yen and includes rice, soup, pickles, and dessert.

It’s a delicious visual, and in fact it was delicious. In my comments at the time, I wrote the following

This is as expected. Both “Mah” and “Rah” are perfect.

“Lunch Mapo” at Szechuan restaurants is usually “normal spiciness”, but this was “authentic spiciness”. It was really delicious.

Personally, I think it is one of the best 3 in Chinatown for value priced “lunch mapo”.

By the way, the other two of the best three are “ShahoSyuro” and “Kyokaro“. But this is the only one that offers lunch prices on Saturdays. That’s a good point right there.

A la carte dish “Szechuan Mapo Tofu”

This one, on the other hand, is the same “Szechuan Mapo Tofu” which is a single dish, not a lunch dish.

The image in the photo looks a little different, but it is the same “Szechuan Mapo Tofu” from the same restaurant, so the ingredients and seasoning are almost the same. (The plate is a little larger a la carte)

The price as a la carte is 1,980 yen. (As of November 2024, from the official website)

This is an a la carte dish, so rice, soup, etc. are not included.

I wrote the following in my comment when I ate it.

Everyone also wanted to try the “Mapo Tofu”, so we ordered the authentic spicy “Szechuan Mapo Tofu”.

Of course it was spicy and delicious, but I think it would be comparable to the “Szechuan Mapo Tofu” for lunch.

It is easy to see how cost-effective weekday lunches are.

Lunch dishes or a la carte dishes?

Not all Chinatown restaurants, but the following rules generally apply to those I recommend.

1. weekday lunches are offered mainly for the locals (who come every day).

2. weekday lunches are often 2/3 to half the price of a la carte dishes.

3. Same menu is same taste. Just because it is offered cheaply does not mean it is bad.

4. Recommend more expensive special courses and a la carte dishes, especially for tourists.

Some people think, “Since I’ve come all this way, I’ll eat the most expensive food I can find”.

However, since there is no such thing as “the more expensive the better,” I recommend lunch on weekdays.
