(30) Tenjogawa “Honjozo Gensyu”

Tonight’s evening drink is here. This is FurukawaShuzo’s Tenjogawa “Honjozo Gensyu”.

When I hold the glass close to my face, I can smell how intense the aroma is.

The first sip is mellow, and the first thing that comes to mind is the sweetness of the rice and the rich flavor of the umami.

The mild acidity and spiciness come later.

It is sweet with more than 19% alcohol by volume, so the richness of the flavor is considerable.

With this richness, it is totally possible to drink it on the rocks.

However, it is not so sweet that it can only be drunk on the rocks, and I personally prefer to savor the intensity as it is.

Umami and sweetness are the main flavors of this sake until the end, but after swallowing, the spiciness flows smoothly. I like it.

I also tried heating the sake, and while many sakes have a completely different flavor when cold or warm, this one tasted just as good warmed as cold.

The label says “good sake both chilled and heated” and I think it is true.
