Tonight’s evening drink is here. This is Sekoshuzo’s Daikoga “Junmai Hiyaoroshi”.
The alcohol content is 17%. It is a junmai sake with rice polished to 70%.
The official website says, “This is a hiyaoroshi, a typical autumnal sake. Please enjoy it hot“.
This is no good. I’m having it chilled, haha.
First of all, when I put my face close to it, I found a firm aroma that seemed to be sour.
Its distinctive sourness comes softly in the first sip. This sour taste is my favorite type.
The taste I perceive is not so much sourness, but rather the umami of rice with a sense of fermentation.
The spiciness is not so strong that it overpowers the umami.
Only when swallowing does the spiciness come for a moment, followed by a lingering sourness.
I can’t speak for the price, but this sake is extremely reasonable. It would be great as a daily evening drink.
